Privacy Policy

ReadList · Effective 1 October 2026

This policy explains how ReadList handles your information. In short: the app is built to keep your data on your device, and this page lists exactly what — if anything — leaves it.

What stays on your device

The following stays on your device. It is never sent to us or to anyone else:

  • Your library, sessions, progress, quotes, notes, flashcards and goals stay on your device and, with iCloud Sync on, in your private iCloud.
  • ReadList has no server of its own and cannot see your library.
  • Page photos are read on your device to extract text; the photo is not uploaded.
  • Apple Intelligence features run on your device's on-device model.
  • Backups are files saved on your device or in your iCloud Drive.

Services that receive some data

Some features rely on third-party services. When you use them, each service receives only what it needs to do its job:

  • RevenueCat — Subscriptions & purchases
Receives: an anonymous app user id, your purchase receipts, and your device model, OS version, and country.
    Their privacy policy ↗
  • AppMate — Support forms & retention flows
Receives: what you type into a form, your email if you provide it, and your approximate country.
    Their privacy policy ↗
  • Open Library (Internet Archive) — Book search, details and covers when you search for or scan a book.
Receives: search text or ISBN and IP address.

Device features

Notifications: reminders are scheduled locally on your device. We don't send push notifications.

iCloud: your data can sync through your own private iCloud account. It's handled by Apple and we can't see it.

The app can access your camera and photo library when you use a feature that needs it. What you capture or pick stays on your device unless you choose to share it.

What we don't do

We do not:

  • sell or rent your personal data
  • show you ads
  • track you across other companies' apps or websites
  • build advertising or behavioral profiles about you

Children

This app is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

If we change how the app handles data, we'll update this page and its effective date. Earlier versions stay available and dated below.
